Aaron Nicoll è il nuovo campione nazionale australiano 2011, porta a casa il risultato grazie al bel mazzo TwinPod, disegnato dal famoso deck builder locale Dan Unwin, che col medesimo mazzo chiude 9th a Melbourne non entrando negli otto per un soffio. Nei Top 8 troviamo 2x RUG TwinPod, 2x Tempered Steel, 2x Mono Rossi (1 RDW, 1 Goblins), B/r Vampires e Caw Blade. Metagame vario e divertente, a nostro avviso il mazzo di Aaron nelle mani di un giocatore capace avrebbe ottime possibilità di affermarsi anche a Rimini il prossimo week-end per i nostri nazionali.

Il mazzo del vincitore è di fatto un sapiente mix di Splinter Twin Combo e Birthing Pod, capace di diversi approcci alla partita e di difficile lettura da parte dell’avversario. Questo insieme di creature molto efficaci ha portato al risultato altri due giocatori: Isaac Egan si è aggiudicato uno degli slot di qualificazione al prossimo Pro Tour, mentre Andrew Jacobs è giunto ottavo ai Nazionali (la sua lista differisce di poco nel parco creature). Una discreta prova di forza per un archetipo che anche in Francia ha saputo trovare estimatori; Olivier Ruel, giocando una lista senza Splinter Twin, ha saputo raggiungere la settima piazza nei Nazionali transalpini. Finalmente, sembra giunto il momento di spolverare i Birthing Pod che da tanto prendevano polvere nei raccoglitori.
